About
The Peltz Center for Jewish Life announces the opening of the Jewish Discovery Center in Cedarburg, WI at the site of the former Briar Patch. The new Center’s mission will be to provide rich educational opportunities regarding Jewish values and observance to a diverse community, promoting tolerance and understanding. It will be a location for tourists as well as locals of all religious backgrounds to come learn, explore and discover about the Jewish religion and culture in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
“People have more in common than they have differences and learning about others helps to make the world a bit smaller,” shared Rabbi Moshe Luchins, who is overseeing the new Center. “Cedarburg is home to many beautiful festivals and is a tourist destination in Southeast Wisconsin. We saw it as a wonderful opportunity to open the Discovery Center for area residents and robust tourist pedestrian traffic.” Luchins continued.
The Discovery Center will be located just off of Washington Ave in downtown Cedarburg at N58 W6208 Columbia Rd. The building was built in the 1870s and is a mainstay of the downtown area. The Peltz Center for Jewish Life will supervise and provide support for all activity and plans to work closely with local businesses and the tourism council to create a space that will plug right into the local atmosphere. The Discovery Center will offer Jewish artifact exhibits, historical Jewish displays, crafts for children and classes for adults. In addition, visitors will be able to purchase Judaica-themed art and holiday needs such as menorahs and seder plates. Light kosher snacks and pastries will also be available for purchase.
